Before your Nikah in Ontario, gather a few documents so the ceremony and registration go smoothly.

Your checklist

  • Government photo ID for both partners (two pieces each for the licence)
  • Ontario marriage licence (valid 90 days)
  • Two witnesses, aged 18 or older, with ID
  • Agreed Mahr and any conditions for the contract

If you were married before

If either partner was previously married, bring proof the marriage ended: a divorce certificate (or court order), or a death certificate for a widowed spouse. For Islamic purposes, we will also confirm the completion of any required waiting period.
