The Prophet ﷺ would say: “Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi-l‑qabr, wa min ʿadhābi-n‑nār, wa min fitnati-l‑maḥyā wal‑mamāt, wa min fitnati-l‑Masīḥi-d‑Dajjāl.” (al-Bukhārī). He said the dead are punished in a way even animals can hear. (al-Bukhārī). He taught this too in the final tashahhud.
العربية: عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: كان رسول الله ﷺ يدعو: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر، ومن عذاب النار، ومن فتنة المحيا والممات، ومن فتنة المسيح الدجّال». (البخاري).
Ask Allah for protection from the grave's punishment — especially in your prayers before salām.
