Abū Bakr asked how to be saved from shirk, which is “more hidden than the crawling of an ant.” The Prophet ﷺ taught: “Say: ‘Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika an ushrika bika wa anā aʿlam, wa astaghfiruka limā lā aʿlam.’” (al-Adab al-Mufrad — ṣaḥīḥ). Hidden shirk includes showing off (riyāʾ).
العربية: عن أبي بكر رضي الله عنه أنّ النبيّ ﷺ قال: «الشِّرك أخفى فيكم من دبيب النمل… قل: اللهم إني أعوذ بك أن أُشرك بك وأنا أعلم، وأستغفرك لما لا أعلم». (الأدب المفرد).
Say this duʿā daily — protection from the greatest sin, including the hidden shirk of riyāʾ.
