Working for a lawful living is honoured. The Prophet ﷺ said: “No one ever eats food better than what he eats from the work of his own hands; the Prophet Dāwūd used to eat from the work of his hands.” (al-Bukhārī). Any ḥalāl work is dignified — the Prophet ﷺ himself once shepherded sheep.
Work and earn ḥalāl — it is Sunnah; do not depend on people's charity while you are able.
