The Prophet ﷺ said to one who lavishly praised another: “Woe to you, you have cut your companion's neck!” (repeatedly). “If one of you must praise, let him say: ‘I reckon so‑and‑so to be… and Allah is his reckoner — I do not sanctify anyone before Allah.’” (al-Bukhārī & Muslim). Excess praise breeds vanity.

العربية: عن أبي بكرة رضي الله عنه أنّ رجلًا أثنى على آخر عند النبيّ ﷺ فقال: «ويحك، قطعتَ عُنق صاحبك» مرارًا، «مَن كان منكم مادحًا فليقل: أحسِب فلانًا والله حسيبه، ولا أُزكّي على الله أحدًا». (البخاري ومسلم).

Praise in moderation and truth — don't flatter people to their faces; it can spoil them.
