Comfort those struck by loss. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever consoles one afflicted has the like of his reward.” (Tirmidhī — ḥasan). And: “No believer consoles his brother in a calamity but Allah clothes him from the garments of honour on the Day of Resurrection.” (Ibn Mājah — ḥasan). When Jaʿfar was martyred he said: “Prepare food for the family of Jaʿfar, for what has befallen them preoccupies them.” (Abū Dāwūd & Tirmidhī).
العربية: عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه عن النبيّ ﷺ قال: «مَن عزّى مُصابًا فله مثلُ أجره». (الترمذي). وقال ﷺ: «اصنعوا لآل جعفرٍ طعامًا، فإنه قد أتاهم ما يشغلهم». (أبو داود والترمذي).
Visit and console the bereaved with kind words and a prepared meal — a great Sunnah of mercy.
