Hold yourself to account before you are held to account. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The wise one is he who calls himself to account and works for what is after death.” (Tirmidhī — ḥasan). ʿUmar said: “Take account of yourselves before you are taken to account.” Allah says: “Let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow.” (al-Ḥashr 59:18).
العربية: عن شدّاد بن أوس رضي الله عنه عن النبيّ ﷺ قال: «الكيّس مَن دان نفسه وعمل لما بعد الموت». (الترمذي). وقال عمر رضي الله عنه: «حاسِبوا أنفسكم قبل أن تُحاسَبوا».
Each night, review your day — rejoice at your good, repent from your wrong, and plan tomorrow's good.
